Purpose of Position
Provide assistance to Anesthesia care providers in the acquisition, preparation, and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia to patient under the direction of the licensed Anesthesia care provider.
Description
Under the general direction of the Chief CRNA, provides support services for the Anesthesia Department and the Operating Room in order to provide an environment for quality patient care.
Stocks anesthesia carts, warming cabinets and anesthesia workroom on a designated interval, including supplies and special order purchases.
Responsible for restocking anesthesia supplies in Labor and Delivery.
Sets up breathing circuits, filters, suctions, EKG pads, I.V. fluids, pediatric equipment, etc., for each scheduled case.
Responsible for Hypothermia Blanket, Bear Hugger, blood warmers and replacing sharps containers.
Responds to the needs of the anesthesia personnel as needed for support assistance.
Assists with ORA duties and responsibilities as needed.
Perform other work related duties as assigned or requested
Qualifications
· High school graduate or equivalent
· Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
· Two years previous OR or Anesthesia experience required.
· Demonstrates strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills and is able to function independently with minimal supervisory direction on a daily basis.
· Demonstrates the ability to function in stressful situations.
BLS Required
· Successful passage of a Medical Terminology course or successful passage Medical Terminology challenge exam.
