Block Schedules: No
Start Date: 04/02/2026
Job Duration: 13
Job Location:
425 Robinson St
Binghamton, NY 13904-1735
Description:
2x12s and 2x8 or 5x8 shift schedule available.
RNs should be expected to pass medications for up to 25 patients and have psychiatric experience. They must write shift notes, conduct and document nursing assessments and will be assigned to write weekly/monthly notes. Given our staffing situation, there may be times when two-three RNs are scheduled on a unit and all staff are expected to work with the patients to foster a therapeutic milieu. One nurse is assigned as the charge RN in this case, and all RNs count in the overall core staffing numbers with the Mental Health Therapy Aides.
OVERTIME
All overtime for agency staff must be approved by the CNO/ADON through the Nursing Supervisor. GBHC does not favor agency OT unless there is a vacancy and all GBHC staff have been canvassed and there is no one to fill the vacancy.
SWAPPING SHIFTS
Swapping shifts must also be approved by the CNO/ADON. A Form 69 request for time off must be completed and both staff sign who are agreeing to the swap. There have been a few instances of swaps arranged and no documentation with a Form 69 completed.
MEAL BREAKS
Meal breaks are 1 2 hour in length and cannot be combined with a 15-minute break. If you are not able to take a break, the nursing supervisor must be notified immediately, and the justification documented on your SISO form.
BREAKS
Sleeping is not allowed on the patient unit. If staff rest during their meal break, it is their choice to do so, but it MUST be in a non-patient area. I am hearing reports that staff are resting in the office on the unit. This is NOT ALLOWED.
