Job Title: RN - Med/Surg (000539)
Duties:
Job Responsibilities:
Duties may include but are not limited to:
-Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals.
-Evaluating medical information, as well as providing direct and individualized bedside nursing care to pre-and post-surgery patients.
-Preparing, administering and recording prescribed medications.
-Changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IVs.
-Adjusting specialized medical equipment as needed, as well as interpreting and recording measurements.
-Monitoring patients' vitals and reporting adverse reactions to medications in a timely manner.
-Collaborating on discharge planning with the healthcare team.
-Answering questions and educating patients and their families on surgical procedures and post-surgery care.
-Maintaining and updating patient files, medical charts, and health records.
-Adhering to best nursing practices, standards, and protocols.
Skill:
Required Skills & Experience:
-Acute Facilities: Minimum two (2) years Med/Surg experience in a large acute care hospital setting. The most recent experience should be within the past year.
-Post Acute Facilities: Minimum two (2) years Med/Surg experience in either Post Acute Facility or acute care hospital setting. The most recent experience should be within the past year.
-Physical assessment.
-Medication administration.
-Wound care & Infection control
-IV therapy.
-Post-operative care.
-Patient education.
-Telemetry monitoring.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
-EPIC EMR experience.
Education:
Required Education:
-Associates Degree in Nursing from an accredited educational institute.
Preferred Education:
-N/A
Required Certification & Licensure:
-New York State RN License & Primary Source Verification.
-AHA BLS.
-AHA ACLS (Queens only).
