Job Title: Software Developer - Senior
Duration: 230 days (Extension possible)
Location: 222 Jarvis St. Toronto ON - 5 days onsite
Hours / day: 7.25

Description:
Beneficial Ownership Registry (BOR) needs a Senior Software Developer to develop, configure, integrate, and maintain application components in accordance with approved technical designs and coding standards, build and maintain automated tests for user interfaces, APIs, and databases; review code; troubleshoot defects across BOR delivery lifecycle

Assignment Description:
Develops, configures, integrates, tests, deploys, and maintains complex application components in accordance with approved architecture, technical designs, security requirements, and coding standards. Provides technical leadership and supports the quality, reliability, performance, and maintainability of the solution.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements:
Experience

• Experience developing and maintaining complex enterprise applications using Java.
• Experience translating technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria into working software.
• Experience developing user interfaces, APIs, integration services, business logic, and database components.
• Experience building automated unit, integration, API, database, and user-interface tests.
• Experience developing and deploying cloud-based microservice architecture solutions in Microsoft Azure, including deployment pipelines, configuration management, and application monitoring.
• Experience reviewing code and enforcing development, security, documentation, and testing standards.
• Experience troubleshooting complex defects and resolving performance, reliability, and integration issues.
• Experience implementing secure coding practices and addressing identified vulnerabilities.
• Experience supporting deployments, production-readiness activities, and post-implementation stabilization.
• Demonstrated experience providing team and solution leadership, including guiding technical direction, coordinating development activities, and ensuring alignment with approved architecture and delivery objectives.
• Experience mentoring developers and providing technical guidance within multidisciplinary teams.

General Skills / Duties

• Design, develop, configure, test, and maintain Java application components.
• Build and maintain cloud-based microservices in Microsoft Azure, including interfaces, APIs, integrations, data-access components, and automated tests.
• Participate in solution design and technical planning.
• Review code and provide practical feedback to development team members.
• Diagnose and resolve defects, performance issues, security concerns, and integration failures.
• Support continuous integration and deployment activities.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation.
• Estimate development work and contribute to sprint and release planning.
• Support test teams, business acceptance testing, deployment, and implementation.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements
Software Development Experience - 40%

• Experience developing complex enterprise or public-facing applications.
• Experience implementing user interfaces, APIs, services, integrations, and database components.
• Experience applying object-oriented, structured, and Agile development methodologies.

Cloud, Integration, and Deployment - 25%

• Experience developing and deploying applications in cloud-based environments.
• Experience with APIs, integration patterns, automated deployment, and configuration management.
• Experience supporting application monitoring and operational readiness.

Testing, Security, and Quality - 20%

• Experience developing automated tests for user interfaces, APIs, and databases.
• Experience applying secure coding and code-quality practices.
• Experience troubleshooting defects and improving application performance and maintainability.

Communication and Technical Leadership - 15%

• Experience providing technical guidance and conducting code reviews.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate technical issues and recommendations clearly.

Must Have:

• Must have experience leading teams and managing development teams.
• Demonstrated experience providing team and solution leadership, including guiding technical direction, coordinating development activities, and ensuring alignment with approved architecture and delivery objectives.
• Experience mentoring developers and providing technical guidance within multidisciplinary teams.
